The majority of these photos were taken in my backyard or driving on my way home. They were taken on my iPhone, so not exactly the best quality (these pictures do not do justice to the magnitude of some of these clouds). I think that God shows off His artistry in the sky as a reflection of His being and character.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” Psalm 19:1
This last picture is the most memorable. After working for Comcast for four years, I was let go unexpectedly. I was in shock and felt an emptiness I had never felt before. How would I pay my bills or buy groceries or pay for daycare? I had to put on a brave face when I picked up my six year old son though. I don’t like to burden him with adult problems. I picked him up and we started to head to church, as we do every Wednesday night, and the sky was partly cloudy with no rain in sight.
My son yelled, “Mom! A rainbow! Look!” I was deep in thought and still mulling over what happened, not really paying attention to what he was saying. “No Mom! Seriously! Look at that huge rainbow back there!” I dismissed it again and told him there was no rain clouds and it was too sunny. As I turned a corner, I could see a full rainbow reflecting back at me through my rear-view mirror. There is really something special to be said about the wonder of a child.
I have never felt so much peace! Like an overwhelming sense of warmth was engulfing my insides. I cannot describe it. I pulled over and we both got out of the car to get a good look. I started to cry because that’s when I knew God had something else planned for my life, this was a new season and it was going to be okay.
God has my journey planned out and he has placed signs along the way to let me know that I am on the right path. – TM
